It was her love of music that first bought Michelle Connor to Weatherfield. She auditioned for the role of lead singer in Vernon Tomlin's Rock Rhythm Rascals, and after just a few chords, it became clear she was the woman they'd been looking for.
Of course, this didn't please Vernon's girlfriend Liz McDonald one bit. She'd hoped to have the gig herself, and was very threatened by the arrival of marvellous Michelle.

Having appeased Liz and got into the band, Michelle hoped she'd finally found a bit of stability in her life. Having suffered terrible tragedy in her life, after her son Ryan's dad died, the struggling single mum just wanted a bit of fun.
She even took a job at the Rovers, where she became an instant hit with the regulars and the staff – although Liz was less than pleased to be working alongside her.
But Liz would have to get used to Michelle – not least because her son Steve was completely smitten. It looked, early on, like Steve and Michelle were going to fall in love. Both were attracted to the other and the spark between them appeared strong
But life got in the way. After the McDonalds took over the pub from Fred Elliott, Michelle was horrified when she was accused of trying to pinch Vernon off Liz. What had really happened was that the ageing drummer had chanced his arm with Michelle, and she'd exposed him as a love rat.
Although Liz reluctantly reinstated the brunette beauty after Steve persuaded her it was the right thing to do, there was no love lost between the two women. And when Michelle overheard Steve slating her and saying he'd never date her (simply to appease Liz), she went very cold on him.
Michelle was delighted when her brothers Liam and Paul bought into Underworld and the family became more established in the community. She felt a sense of belonging and struck up nice relationships with fellow barmaids Violet and Betty and her feelings for Steve continued to blossom.
She was horrified, however, when Vernon returned and won Liz back. And even more infuriated when her boss warned her that she must never come onto Vernon again! Now Michelle is trying hard to keep her head down, do her work and not antagonise Liz.
But with her attraction to Steve still bubbling, is that really possible?
