Last But Not Least - OK Magazine - June 2007
When was the last time you were in trouble?
The last time I was in real trouble was when I'd agreed to do a job out in Jamaica. it was all booked and the day before i was packing and sorting out my stuff when i happened to check my passport. It had expired! I had to spend the rest of the day sitting in the passport office to get a replacement and couldn't make the flight I was booked to be on. The people i was working for had to rearrange everything and I finally flew out two days later! Whoops!
When was the last time you were completely legless?
I don’t really do that often, to be honest. Sorry!
When was your last dodgy date?
Before Jack, all my dates were dodgy! But the worst has to be when I was 14. My cousin set me up with this guy who she claimed looked just like Joey McIntyre from New Kids On The Block. She was sadly mistaken. He looked so little like him that I could’ve cried. Needless to say, I never saw him again.
When was your last showbiz night out?
that would have been a charity event. I was one of the many from the Corrie cast who took part in a cabaret for Sue Cleaver’s [Eileen Grimshaw] chosen charity, When You Wish Upon A Star. It was great fun and we raised a lot of money as well.
When was your last fashion disaster?
Oh, I’m always having fashion disasters! I am so hit and miss with clothes – except when I go to awards, as I always get dresses from my friend, the designer Phillip Armstrong. He’s wonderful and always makes sure I wear something fab!
When was the last time you freaked out?
A couple of days ago I played tennis with Tim Henman. However, I’d put a new airbrush self tan on the night before and when I work up the next day I had bright orange hands and feet, and lots of streaks. I was wearing whites for the game, too, so needless to say I was freaking out.
When was the last time you missed something?
I missed a few balls when Tim hit them at me!
When was the last time you fluffed your lines at Corrie?
I only do it occasionally.
When was the last time you splashed out on a really expensive outfit?
I’ve never bought a ridiculously expensive piece of clothing, except for my wedding dress. But even that wasn’t expensive really. I’m quite thrifty and buy from the High Street mostly. I’m a good girl, eh?
When was the last time you read something about yourself that wasn’t true?
I frequently read things about myself that aren’t true.
When was the last time you were totally starstruck?
It was probably when I was sitting in the Green Room on my first day at Corrie. Just meeting people like William Roach [Ken Barlow] and Barbara Knox [Rita Sullivan] and Betty Driver [Betty Turpin]. It was a completely mad experience!
When was the last time you cringed at yourself on TV?
I always cringe when I watch myself on TV! Especially if I’m crying in the scene. My face is screwed up and red and hideous!
When was the last time you kissed someone famous?
This morning. It was my husband, Jack!
When was the last time you were mistaken for somebody else?
Never! But people have been getting a little bit confused since I changed my professional name to Ryder. They were also confused by the name of my Corrie character, Michelle. As my surname used to be Marsh, they’d mixed up and ask if I was Michelle Marsh, who is a glamour model – that was quite funny!
