Kym Marsh the Ann Summers girl!
From : News Of The World 6th March 2005

Ding Dong! Kym Marsh reveals how she brought pleasure to desperate housewives. By
John Marrs.

Kym Marsh has done her bit to relieve sexual frustration in Wigan. Thanks to the singing
star and a case full of sex toys, women in the greater Manchester town were left smiling
as she worked as an Ann Summers' party organiser.

The job was one of many  Kym, 28, had when she was a penniless single mum before she
became famous with Hear'Say.

She had also worked in dress shops, and as a club singer and hotel receptionist. She
even folded leaflets for a living before finding fame.

But it was selling sex toys and lingerie to friends and neighbours that she enjoyed the
most.

"It was the funniest time of my life, going to posh women's houses and selling them
naughty things," says Kym laughing.

Kym became involved after meeting a party organiser. "There would be rooms filled with
women who were clearly a little frustrated," she recalls.

"The rampant rabbit vibrator was popular, as was a toy shaped like a large willy with a
sucker on the back. I told them to stick it on their washing machines during a fast-spin
cycle."

Sadly Kym wasn't allowed to road-test the products herself.

"We weren't allowed to test the toys for hygene reasons!" she says, chortling.

"But women have the same amount of nerve endings on their noses as they do in their
private parts, so we'd have all these middle-aged women trying out sex toys on their
noses."

Kym's been singing since she was ten but not all her gigs went well, or earned big bucks.

"Singing in working mens clubs was great training," she declares. "Sometimes you'd have
a great crowd and other times you'd have the usual hecklers."

As a single mum Kym found it hard going and ended up in debt. She now fronts the Shop
For Credit Campaign that urges people to read the fine print before borrowing money.

"People assume I made millions in Hear'Say," she says. "Thats not the case. Everything I
have I've worked hard for."

Kym recently starred in the West End stage musical Saturday Night Fever.

"I decided not to renew my contract because they wanted to cut my wages," she says.
"I'd like to continue with musical theatre though, and would love to play Roxy in Chicago."

Kym also hopes to add to her two children by having a baby with her husband
ex-Eastender Jack Ryder, 23.

"We definitely want more children soon," she says, "It's a matter of finding the right time.

"The biggest things in my life are my children, my husband, and my family.

"I'm half a person when I'm not with them."
